Australian Open 2009

Rafael Nadal : If Nadal goes on to win the australian open he would be the first man since the legend Andre Agassi to win a grand slam on all three of the surfaces grass, clay and hard. Rafa was a semi finalist here last and was outplayed by Jo Wilfred Tsonga who beat him in straight sets.

Roger Federer : The defending US Open champion will be going for GS fourteen in Australia to equal the record. Federer has some good memories in Australia as he won it three times and fell in the semis on the other two notable occasions losing to the eventual champion each time.

Novak Djokovic : The defending champion ended last year on a high winning the masters cup in Shanghai. If he is playing well he is very capable of retaining his title but faces a tough defence of his title from the other three and possibly others like tsonga and nalbandian that is on form could take him out.

Andy Murray : The British number one will be looking to repeat his US Open heroics but going one step further. I can see him going deep in to the draw if the back holds up and doesn’t run into players like Tsonga or an in form Nalbandian on route to the semis as both could beat him if playing well.
